Orphanages

HIMILO is currently supporting 1,203 orphans and the poor in Mogadishu, Galkayo and Bandiiradley. In 2008, HIMILO began supporting orphans and at that time there were only ten (10) orphans. This number ballooned as a result of the continued 25 year civil war in Somalia and the several years of severe drought.

Mogadishu Orphanage

Imamu Nabawi Welfare Society
  • 180 orphans are housed at the African Village centre, 50 of these Orphans are sponsored by HIMILO, and 32 students receive scholarships (full paid) from HIMILO

Benadir Orphange Centre

  • 1,250 orphans and students from poor families receive education,
  • HIMILO supports the teacher’s costs’.
  • Food is provided by the Turkish NGOs in Somalia

Galkayo Orphanage

  • Imamu Nabawi Welfare Society first opened in 1993
  • HICDA started supporting Imamu Nabawi Welfare Society in 2006
  • 200 orphans are in Mudug Orpfanage Cenre and need sponsorship 
  • 27 orphans at Bandergali orphanage centre
