Ibnu Masud Orphanage Center in Galkacyo
Himilo is currently supporting the education of all the orphans who have reached the age of school enrollment.
The Hobyonet newscast service released a survey conducted by Imamu Nabawi humanitarian organization that advocated for a better living condition and educational opportunity of the orphans currently sponsored by same organization. Mr. Sheikh Abdulkadir Adnaan, the manager of Imamu Nabawi humanitarian organization reported that Imamu Nabawi has been established in 1993 at a time when Somalia has been affected by local conflicts, hunger, malnutrition and mass displacement that gave way to massive strife of thousands of under-age orphaned children in the region. In that light, Imamu Nabawi pledged to support and took care of orphans, in conjunction with Somali expatriates living outside of the country. Currently, Imamu Nabawi sponsors 135 orphans of both genders at Galkaio Ibnu Masud Center; who are in the age-group 6-15 years. The boys receive: Sleeping quarter, food, education & clothes for Id celebration. Similarly, the girls receive education, dry food to take home and clothes for Id celebration. A good part of the cost expenses is covered by the Somali Community in Diaspora, but there’s the need to upset a budget shortfall due to skyrocketing inflation, displaced applicant orphans and ongoing draughts. To a certain extent, Ibnu Masud orphans are the most fortunate ones in Galkaio residents, but there’re hundreds of orphans on the waiting list who have no hope for a quick-fix for living and education opportunities unless they join with their peers in the center.

Education Opportunity:
80 out of the 123 in Ibnu Masud orphans go for free education to Al-Sha’ab primary school at the South Galkaio, but after completion of an educational wing at the center; which is currently sponsored by HICDA humanitarian organization, more orphans will get space for boarding and learning. By large, educational facilities and nutrition food supplies are in shortage in all orphanages.
