The delegation got a very warm and friendly welcome in Galkayo and the surrounding areas visited. Community leaders, members of the local administration, students, teachers and parents were very happy to finally put faces to those people who were instrumental in assisting them with education, health and orphanage care. The delegation were surrounded by people who were appreciative and admire the work HCI and HICDA are implementing in these areas.
With the aid of Human Concern International, HIMILO Civic Development Agency started to distribute food to the vicitms of the sever drought in Somalia.

Windsor Town Hall Fundraising Event
With the encourangement of HIMILO, the Somali Community of Windsor was able to establish a fundraising town hall meeting on July 30, 2011. This meeting surpassed all expectations and a total of $74,000 was raised that evening.

The teachers and elders of Ceel Dibir in the Mudug region have contacted us to help aid in the completion of their elementary and middle school in Ceel Dibir. The land has been donated by the community for the construction of the school. Construction has begun on the building; however, due to lack of funding construction has stopped.
2009 Iftaar Program
The second annual Iftaar program was held in Gaalkacyo, Somalia. There were approximately 50 daily participants for each of the 30 days the program ran.
